Today, higher education institutions face a growing tension in adopting artificial intelligence (AI). While there is pressure to accelerate AI to enhance student support and streamline operations, many faculty and staff remain concerned about trust, governance, and the pace of change. This session explores how institutions can navigate this tension by designing human-centered, governed AI agents that support student success while building trust and readiness. Framed through Bentley University’s Bentley Beacon initiative, the discussion will highlight the development of student- and staff-facing AI agents to improve engagement and outcomes. Rather than presenting a finished solution, this session invites participants into a collaborative dialogue to shape a practical playbook for AI adoption that aligns with campus culture and values. Key questions include: What data should AI access? How can governance build trust? How can AI strengthen human relationships? And how can institutions prepare their communities to effectively integrate AI into existing practices?Participants will leave with actionable insights and emerging practices for responsible AI adoption.
