Beyond AI Adoption: Building a University AI Ecosystem That Empowers Faculty Innovation

Thursday, October 01, 2026 | 10:45AM–11:30AM MT
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation
As generative AI adoption accelerates across higher education, many institutions face a common challenge: AI tools are being used widely, but often without an intentional institutional architecture or a clear strategy for empowering educators. Moving beyond experimentation requires designing ecosystems that integrate AI into teaching, learning, and academic workflows in scalable and responsible ways. This session shares how Tec de Monterrey developed and deployed TECgpt, a secure institutional generative AI ecosystem that enables faculty to create AI-powered learning tools without programming expertise. Through a no-code environment, educators design customizable skills and AI learning agents that automate academic tasks, support student learning, and enable innovative course experiences. Participants will explore the architectural principles, governance strategies, and faculty enablement practices that supported the platform’s expansion across a university system serving more than 90,000 students and 11,000 faculty. The session offers practical insights for institutions seeking to move from isolated AI experimentation toward scalable AI ecosystems that empower educators as creators of AI-enabled learning experiences.
