Beyond Predictive Analytics: Human-Centered AI for Student Experience and Early Signals

Most student success efforts rely on lagging indicators such as grades, course outcomes, and risk scores. However, these signals often surface only after students begin to struggle or disengage—and sometimes leave. This session introduces a human-centered AI approach that enables earlier and more meaningful intervention by shifting the focus to such leading indicators embedded in the student experience as belonging, clarity, and help-seeking readiness. Participants will explore how AI can surface these signals while keeping decision-making human-centered and engage in interactive activities to identify practical ways to apply this approach within their own institutional contexts.
