Build Data-Informed Accessibility Checklists for Your Higher Ed Institution Using AI and 508 Risk Matrix?(Separate registration required.)

As accessibility compliance deadlines already exist for some and approach for other higher education institutions, teams need practical ways to prioritize their efforts. Participants review an existing accessibility checklist and learn how it was updated using audit results, LMS data, research, AI, and the 508 risk matrix. The session demonstrates a data-informed prioritization approach, and then guides attendees in using a provided template to build a starter checklist for their institution. Attendees leave with a draft checklist and a plan to validate and refine it using their own data. Outcomes of this workshop: identify data sources for determining institutional accessibility needs across digital content; apply the 508 risk matrix with AI tools to prioritize accessibility needs; and create a starter accessibility checklist applicable to digital content at your institution. Upon successful completion of this preconference workshop, participants will be eligible to receive an EDUCAUSE microcredential. To earn this digital badge, participants must complete a brief workshop evaluation and share two key learning outcomes from their experience. On October 5, all registered participants will receive an email with instructions for completing these steps. Completion of both is required.
