Collective Defense in Action: Building a Next-Gen Shared Security Operations Center for Higher Ed

Wednesday, September 30, 2026 | 9:30AM–10:30AM MT
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
OmniSOC, an impact-driven university-hosted managed security service provider (MSSP) serving higher education and research institutions, has transformed its security operations by adopting a next-generation AI- and ML-enabled platform (Cortex XSIAM) to deliver high-value managed security services. By pooling resources and combining advanced technology with in-house expertise, OmniSOC demonstrates the power of a shared services model for modern cybersecurity. This session explores how a collective defense approach creates “herd immunity” across member institutions, improving security outcomes while reducing costs. Attendees will learn how AI-driven automation replaces manual triage of high-volume incidents, enabling security teams to focus on advanced threat hunting and protection of sensitive research. Through this case study, participants will evaluate whether a shared security operations model is a fit for their institution, and include considerations for joining or partnering with a community-based MSSP. Attendees will leave with practical insights into leveraging shared services and AI-enabled platforms to strengthen campus security.
