Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation
Virginia Tech is modernizing its 30-year-old Student Information System as the first phase of a comprehensive ERP transformation. Over time, extensive customizations limited the institution’s ability to efficiently adopt vendor upgrades and fully realize new system capabilities. Through the new my.vt.edu ecosystem, the university is replacing more than 1,900 legacy customizations, implementing commercial-grade integrations, introducing modern curriculum and registration tools, enhancing student self-service, and laying the groundwork for cloud migration through a decoupled ERP architecture. This session shares practical lessons learned in governance, change management, workflow automation, accessibility, data migration, and cross-campus collaboration that may benefit institutions undertaking large-scale system modernization.
