From Fragmented Course Design to Automated LMS Workflow: Scaling Quality at the Course Level

Manual course design and LMS builds are time-intensive and difficult to scale, often resulting in inconsistent student experiences and limited instructional design capacity. This hands-on workshop introduces a structured course design framework paired with an automated LMS build process that translates design inputs directly into course shells. Rather than relying on static templates, this approach reframes course design as structured data that can be used to automatically generate consistent, scalable LMS course builds. Participants will explore a digital design tool, examine the underlying workflow, and see how structured inputs can generate course components in the LMS. Attendees will map their current design and build processes, identify automation opportunities, and draft a scalable workflow tailored to their institutional context. The approach enables more consistent course data, reduces build time, and allows instructional designers to focus on high-impact practices such as active learning and AI-resilient assessment.
