How Has Multifactor Authentication Changed across Higher Education in the Last Three Years?

Thursday, October 01, 2026 | 10:45AM–11:30AM MT
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation
Multifactor Authentication (MFA) on campus has changed dramatically over the last three years as campuses responded to evolving technology environments, phishing attacks that bypass MFA, and the changing regulatory environment. The Internet2 NET+ Duo Security program sponsored a 2026 MFA Community survey and continues to engage the community as campus environments evolve. This presentation will discuss the results from the 2026 MFA Community survey, how the community has changed in the past three years, how campuses are using MFA, and future directions for how they are planning to protect their campuses.
