How Higher Ed Institutions Should Execute AI Upskilling In Cybersecurity: the Top 10 Skills Needed Now

The focus of this session will be on how higher education institutions should execute AI upskilling in cybersecurity. A list of the top 10 most valued skills will be shared based on my external and internal research, including current polling about these skills with higher ed cybersecurity pros from 18 higher ed institutions such as Vanderbilt, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, Old Dominion, and Brown University. There will be timely and pertinent cyber/skills stats and insights shared from the National Cybersecurity Alliance, World Economic Forum, Microsoft, Johns Hopkins, and the University of South Florida. Specific skills in highest demand in higher ed will be shared. Explanations of what these skills are, how to acquire them, and first-person case studies of how I have done so will be shared. Actionable tips will be shared on how to acquire these skills, including "Tiny Habits techniques," generating AI risk scores, work-based learning, and gaining MBAs in cybersecurity. Overall, this is a comprehensive evaluation of the AI skills most needed now in higher ed, based on deep research, synthesis, and analysis. It goes one step further by giving actionable tips for audience members to acquire these skills.
