Humans Still Teach: Designing the Human-AI Partnership in Course Design

AI can crank out outlines, draft quiz questions, rewrite content, and sound weirdly confident while doing all of it. But humans still teach; humans need to teach. The problem is not that AI showed up in course design. The problem is that too many people are using it without a clue where the robot should stop and the human should step in. This session gives faculty and instructional designers a practical way to fix that. We will explore how AI can help with first drafts, revision, and momentum while humans still own the work that actually matters: pedagogy, judgment, accessibility, alignment, and care for learners. The goal is not to worship the machine or panic about it. The goal is to build better courses, with better workflow, and fewer messes disguised as efficiency. Steal from the robot. Shine as the human.
