Higher education institutions are rapidly exploring artificial intelligence to support research, teaching, and campus operations. Yet many campuses face practical barriers when moving from experimentation to real deployment. Sensitive research data often cannot leave institutional environments, shared computing resources create bottlenecks, and cloud-based models introduce challenges around cost predictability, transparency, and reproducibility. This panel brings together higher education practitioners and technical collaborators to discuss how institutions are addressing these challenges by deploying artificial intelligence infrastructure closer to the point of research and learning.
