Mindset, Skill Set, Toolset: The Trifecta of Transformative Project Management

Wednesday, September 30, 2026 | 9:30AM–10:30AM MT
Session Type: Poster Session
Delivery Format: Poster Session
Enterprise IT projects are messy. Priorities can shift at the drop of a hat. Goals become fluid. Even the best-laid plans can easily unravel. A structured framework for planning, executing, and monitoring project tasks is crucial to the success of any initiative. But how do you get there? Forcing discipline from the top down won’t get you there; control is an illusion. Neither will lax processes disguised as empowerment, nor siloing the information tighter than national security secrets. See how we at Texas Tech University revamped our IT project management model to help realize impactful efficiencies and improvements. On-time project delivery increased from just one in FY 2023 to all 27 projects in the current fiscal year. We accelerated project completion time through a more thorough planning process. Transparency and collaboration became the hallmarks of our success. Attend our session to learn how a different mindset, skill set, and toolset enabled our transformation.
