Networking in today’s technology-driven professional environment extends beyond handshakes to include digital-first impressions and AI-assisted communication. This interactive, hands-on workshop helps early career professionals and those transitioning into new roles build practical networking skills they can apply within higher education communities and professional conferences. Grounded in the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Communication competency, the session focuses on developing the communication skills needed to exchange ideas clearly and build authentic professional relationships. Participants will actively practice networking strategies through simulations, structured exercises, and peer discussion. Activities focus on confident introductions, asking meaningful questions, sustaining professional conversations, and following up effectively after initial meetings. The workshop also explores digital networking tools, including AI-assisted message-drafting and LinkedIn profile improvement. Participants will leave with increased confidence, practical networking techniques, and a personal action plan for building and sustaining professional connections.
