Texas Tech University's Canvas environment serves thousands of live courses and students. If the LMS becomes unavailable, access to course content and student data stops with it.
Using Scaffold DataX, the university maintains an independent, continuously updated copy of Canvas course and student data outside the production LMS. If Canvas goes down, Texas Tech still knows which students are in which courses, what they've submitted, and where each one stands, and can keep instruction moving without waiting on a vendor's recovery timeline.
This poster covers the architecture, how the copy stays current, what the university can see during an outage, and what it took to put in place.
