Artificial intelligence adoption in higher education is accelerating faster than institutions can govern it. While many colleges and universities have established ethical principles, they often lack operational frameworks to guide real-time decisions, leading to fragmented oversight, inconsistent risk evaluation, and growing concerns around bias, privacy, and student trust. This session addresses a critical gap: translating AI ethics into cross-functional governance models that enable consistent, real-time decision-making across IT, academic, and administrative units. As AI expands across advising, instruction, and operations, institutions must ensure innovation does not outpace accountability. Participants will leave with a ready-to-adapt governance framework, a structured process for evaluating AI use cases, and a 90-day roadmap to implement transparent, scalable, and student-centered AI governance.
