Are you overwhelmed by the data from your academic technology tools? Let’s be honest: it’s a lot, and often not human-friendly. Our session will review how one R1 public university has been able to build a capacity for data-informed IT practices by focusing on one tool used by almost every course: our Learning Management System (LMS). This session will be an update to our standing-room-only session last year about how we are using three types of data about Canvas, our LMS. With Canvas Data 2, we’ll showcase the new dashboard created specifically to answer leadership questions, as well as discoveries we’ve made about the web logs table. Attendees will also learn how we effectively leverage the Impact platform to monitor engagement and inform decision-making by creating best practices for the community to follow, which will allow the audience to incorporate these techniques at their own institutions. In addition, the presentation will explore how Canvas Catalog data is being used to broaden access, improve course design, and foster a more transparent, data-informed learning ecosystem.
