Scaling Student Communication without Losing the Human Touch: AI, Governance, and Engagement

Friday, October 02, 2026 | 9:15AM–10:00AM MT
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation
Students today receive messages from dozens of offices across campus, often resulting in message fatigue and missed critical information. This session explores how one institution developed a communication stewardship model that combines governance, staff training, and AI to deliver coordinated student communication at scale. By allowing AI to support messaging for large populations while reserving human outreach for smaller targeted groups, institutions can increase engagement without overwhelming students or staff. Attendees will learn practical strategies to implement communication governance, apply AI responsibly in student engagement, and build scalable communication models that preserve the personal connection students value.
