The Future of Pedagogy: Ethical and Inclusive AI in Open Educational Resources

Friday, October 02, 2026 | 8:00AM–8:45AM MT | Meeting Room 407, Street Level
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation

What happens when artificial intelligence is used not just to create open educational resources (OER), but also to shape whose knowledge is included and whose is left out? This interactive session invites educators, instructional designers, and open education practitioners to critically explore both the transformative potential and ethical risks of AI in OER development. Through hands-on activities, case studies, and collaborative design, participants will examine issues such as bias, representation, data privacy, and academic integrity, while learning practical strategies for integrating AI in ways that are transparent, inclusive, and pedagogically sound. Attendees will leave with tools and frameworks to evaluate and create OER that not only leverage AI’s efficiency, but also uphold equity, accessibility, and human-centered learning.
