A Journey toward a Shared IAM Service for Organizations
Many higher education institutions face budget shortfalls and increased competition for student enrollment. Some of these organizations are looking outside (e.g., to public systems or private consortiums) to find like-minded institutions to collaborate with on technology solutions. Common objectives include reducing costs, an improved user experience, addressing staffing and skill shortages, reducing operational risk, and responding to legislative mandates to achieve greater administrative efficiency. Collaborating on IAM solutions can bring significant advantages, but also may create new or heightened challenges with identity data management, matching, and so forth.
Throughout the session, attendees will hear from Sikt (the national governing board for higher education and research in Norway) about its IAM journey and the lessons learned as it achieved a shared and distributed national IAM solution. Additional perspectives from an IAM consultant and the IAM vendor will provide insights related to IAM program planning, implementation wins and losses, and how such expansive IAM requirements both leverage and stretch standard solution functionality and services.
