According to a recent Chronicle of Higher Education brief, over 80% of students, faculty, and staff polled feel that digital skills need to be a bigger part of their institution’s curriculum. In a time when the myth of the digital native looms large, the fact is that most college students fall on a spectrum of digital skills readiness. The resulting gaps can impact student success, engagement, career readiness, and cybersecurity. Concerns about student access, equity, and success, particularly around marginalized groups, led to the creation of a digital literacy site for incoming students at Roger Williams University. Come hear about this successful collaboration between IT, instructional design, and RWU students and learn how you might integrate digital literacy into your student experience.
