Enterprise Architecture: Delivering Value from Streamlining Ops to Wrangling Disruptive Technologies (separate registration is required)
This session is for enterprise, business, and technical architects and similar roles to work with peers to solve organizational problems and foster connections with colleagues. We will introduce prototypical structures of Enterprise Architecture (EA) practices in higher education and engage participants in identifying and communicating the value proposition of each. We will take a “deep dive” into two common EA scenarios to scrutinize how Enterprise Architecture delivers value.
First, we will present the fundamentals of launching and maturing an Application Portfolio Management (APM) service, a popular starting point for EA to improve operational excellence. Participants will work with peers to share experiences and flesh out a soup-to-nuts plan to introduce and mature an APM service. Second, we will probe how EA supports the University when confronted with disruptive technologies. Specifically, we will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) which appears positioned to deliver seismic shifts in University operations. We will split into groups to develop a problem statement and vision statement from three viewpoints: 1) AI as an enterprise productivity platform for all, 2) supporting research in AI, and 3) managing AI embedded in existing tools and platforms. There will be ample time for participants to incorporate new ideas into a personalized action plan for the year ahead, to discuss their next steps with colleagues, and network.
