"Kindly CLICK HERE" A Conversation on Cybersecurity Communications

Wednesday, October 23 | 10:15AM–11:00AM CT
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
Working in technology in higher education, you probably already know that higher ed institutes are key targets for cybercriminals, especially with our extensive arrays of sensitive data. But how do we get the knowledge of cyberattacks and scams, along with the steps needed to thwart these attempts, to our most vulnerable populations, including students, faculty, and staff across campus? How do you determine which cyberattacks or scams warrant a wider communications response and which would only add to the "noise" of constant communication? How do you work with offices across your institute to coordinate responses? And how do communications responses mesh with your institute’s technical controls? Learn from a panel of seasoned IT communicators about the events, campaigns, and key messaging strategies we are utilizing to reach our university communities about the prevalence and dangers of cybercriminals and data breaches. From incident communication to promoting Cybersecurity Awareness Month each October to trainings and more frequent outreach, you’ll learn about our successes and growth opportunities, along with the teamwork required for these projects.
