Securing and Enabling the Student Identity and Life Cycle: The Future of Identity in Higher Education

Wednesday, October 23, 2024 | 1:45PM–2:30PM CT | Meeting Room 304, Third Level
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Presentation/Panel Session
Hear from a variety of institutions in a panel discussion on how modern identity solutions can solve security challenges while transforming the digital experience. As educational institutions continue to rise to new security challenges, address growing user expectations, and meet the needs of new academic programming, the ability to quickly provide secure and seamless digital access is becoming more critical to every institution's strategic goals. Technical debt, as well as staffing and skill shortages, is a common obstacle. However, colleges, universities, and academic systems all need the means to pivot from spending precious time and resources on commodity services (e.g., basic on- and off-boarding), in order to refocus efforts and deliver adaptive and granular access controls as well as timely and seamless digital experience to a growing number of digital services and platforms. The panel will discuss real challenges and realized solutions, as well as lessons learned along the way from a variety of institutions each with unique requirements, challenges, and capacities to deliver.
